Child Dedication is an important milestone in the journey of parenting. It is when you publicly commit to raise your child to know, love, and follow Jesus. Your church family also commits to come alongside you, pray for you, and support you in that journey. God never intended for families to be alone; that’s why He gave us our church family.
Our next Child Dedication Sunday will be some time in the Fall. Once the date is set we’ll post it here.
If you’re interested in dedicating your child or children, the process is simple. First, visit our Parent Dedication Faith Path Page. There you will download a Parent Dedication kit that will give you all the information you need. You will also be able to see a video that provides more information on Parent Dedication and Faith Path.
It will also direct you back here to follow these steps:
Complete and return this child dedication application to our Discipleship Pastor, Jackson Perdue. He will get back to you to let you know he received it, and direct you to the next step in the process.
After turning in your application, do some homework in the form of listening to three Parenting Talks meant to help equip and envision you to be the primary spiritual influencer of your child(ren). As you listen to the three Parenting Talks that we’ve provided, we would like for you to do a little homework! Nothing too tough, we promise.
First Listen to Parenting Talk #1 and then complete the following:
Homework Assignment #1: On the provided homework card, write a description of the kind of person you hope your child will become over the next 18 years. Every year on their birthday, pull out the card. This exercise will give you a chance to evaluate how you’re doing as you lead your child spiritually and to remember the importance of your child’s relationship with their heavenly Father.
Listen to Parenting Talk #2 and then complete the following:
Homework Assignment #2: On the provided second homework card, write down two things that you are going to DO to invest in yourself and the supportive and significant relationships in your life. Maybe you are going to get a babysitter once or twice a month. Maybe your baby goes to bed early so that you have couple or personal time at the end of every day. Maybe you’re going to go for a walk every night after dinner and enjoy God’s creation. These kinds of practical decisions can make a huge impact on your relationships over the long haul. Decide right now what two things you’re going to do and write them down.
Not only is it important to invest in your significant relationships with those who surround you, but you must also invest in your relationship with your heavenly Father. Perhaps you are going to join a small group. Maybe you are going to commit to quiet time three times a week. Make your decision on two things you are going to do to continue growing in your relationship with your heavenly Father and write them down.
Listen To Parenting Talk #3 and then complete the following:
Homework Assignment #3: E-mail Pastor Jackson to let him know you’ve completed the assignments. He will send you a bit more information and work out final details with you regarding your child’s dedication.
