Ryan Kwon

Lead Pastor/Elder

Originally from Los Angeles, Ryan moved to the Bay Area to serve as a teaching pastor at a healthy local church in Fremont. There, he envisioned a Gospel centered church that would benefit the city physically, socially, and spiritually. He shared this vision and led a small group of people to birth a missional movement called Resonate. His passion for the Gospel and relevance of culture bleed out of his teaching. Ryan is a graduate of Talbot School of Theology.

Ryan’s primary roles within Resonate are preaching, vision, and strategy. In his spare time, he likes to watch college basketball/football, UFC, and hang out with his wife and two boys. He enjoys the outdoors, but when it’s too cold to surf and ride his bike, he likes to eat.

Scott Taylor

Pastor/Elder/Discipleship/Worship

Scott was born and raised in Michigan and moved across the country to be a worship pastor at a local church in Fremont. Since then Scott has gained tremendous vision and experience as a church planter in Austin, and has returned to the bay area to plant Resonate. His love for Jesus and his heart for people pours out of him during worship. Scott's dynamic energy and enthusiasm for the Lord can be heard throughout the neighborhood - literally!

Scott's main roles at Resonate are discipleship and leading worship. If Scott could have his way, life would be one big party all the time. You can find him anywhere there is a lot of people, music, and food. His household is full of life with his wife and lots of testosterone with his three boys.

Marty Smith

Missional Community Small Group Director

The other guy on staff who hails from Michigan, Marty is a man of few words with a big heart and immense influence. After being one of the core group that launched Resonate, Marty found God leading him to be the leader of Resonate's small group ministry. Marty uses his corporate management skills to organize and bring people into smaller communities where people can share authentically and live life together.

At Resonate, Marty's primary role is director of Missional Community Small Groups. Besides sitting and talking in a sermon based small group, you can find Marty cruising on his bike or hiking up the nearest mountain. He loves to eat - by himself, with his wife, two grown kids, or even with complete strangers.

Jackson Perdue

Pastor of Family Ministries

Born and raised in Fremont, Jackson has a great love for the city and her people. After graduating from Cal State Hayward, Jackson spent seven years as a Youth Pastor at a great church in Fremont, a substitute high school teacher, and then became a full time public high school teacher. Over time, God grew a passion in Jackson for the Gospel and a deep conviction that the church is the people of God living on mission. This desire to grow a missional movement in Fremont brought Jackson to Resonate. He joined the staff in December 2011 while continuing his full time job as a public high school teacher.

Jackson's passion is to grow Gospel-centered families through leading the Family Ministry at Resonate. He knows that families come in all shapes and sizes and believes God wants to tell His story of redemption and restoration in all of them. God has blessed Jackson with an amazing wife and three lovely daughters. When he's not hanging out with them you can find him reading, writing, watching sports, playing games, or baking. His love of desserts is legendary.

 

Marco Marquez

Student Ministries Resident

Born into a military family, Marco has resided in cities all over England and the United States. At the age of twelve, he settled in Hayward, CA, and hasn't left the East Bay since. Marco began his personal journey with God in junior high and has committed to serving Christ in all he does. Marco is a full-time police officer for the city of Oakland as well as a full-time disciple of Christ for his community.

At Resonate, Marco is the Resident of the Amplify Youth Ministry. His love for the Gospel and his natural leadership qualities coupled with his background in communication is the perfect mix for sharing God's Word to the youth. During Marco's free time, he is all about playing sports. He also loves spending time with his wife, taking their two girls to Disneyland, Chuck E Cheese's and Sky High for his enjoyment... and their's too!

Kiersten Thym

Amplify Youth Ministry Intern

Having been born and raised in Fremont, Kiersten has a heart for the youth of this community. Being involved in children's ministry growing up and serving at YoungLife, gives her the a wide range of ability to work with young people of all ages. She uses her love of Jesus and youthful spirit to gather jr. high and high school girls at Amplify Youth Ministry. They like to laugh, eat, study the Bible, and share the highs and lows of growing up.

At Resonate, Kiersten's primary role is Amplify Youth Ministry Intern. While Kiersten creates obstacle courses, plays Just Dance, and teaches the Amp kids, she is also earning her teaching credential through a one year program at SJSU. Even with her full schedule, she makes sure to get a full eight hours of sleep each night or else she gets very cranky.

Sarah Mills

First 7 Coordinator / Office Manager

Sarah was born in Oregon and lived all over the place as a MK (missionary kid). Completely dedicated to serving Jesus, Sarah has spent over a decade volunteering as an office admin in addition to being a devoted high school leader. Now at Resonate, Sarah loves welcoming and connecting people as well as wrestling with all of the office equipment.

Sarah's main roles at Resonate are First 7 Coordinator and Office Manager. On any given day, Sarah would rather be in Hawaii, under water, with the fish. If that's not an option, you can find her and her husband with any of their three kids at a Raider's or A's game.

Grace Maultsby

Pastoral Assistant

Born in New York, Grace lived in Kansas for 8 years before moving out to sunny California. She recently found her leadership and people skills put to good use as an event coordinator for various ministries. Grace demonstrates her love of Jesus by organizing and empowering others to do the same. While she doesn't use her poly sci degree very much these days, she can find just about anything you want on the Internet.

Grace's main role is to assist Ryan and support the ministry of Resonate. If she's not at Resonate, homeschooling, eating, working at the library, watching TV, or spending time with her husband and three children, then she is most likely at home... sleeping.
